PHYSICAL
DESCRIPTION:
SpaNaturally has assembled the
SpaStart Kit. Each SpaStart kit for spas
under five hundred gallons of water capacity includes a SpaMoss, an
"Earth-friendly" Spa System Flush, a StartNatually Filter, a specially
modified dispenser, and user instructions. For spas over five hundred
gallons of water capacity, the SpaStart kit has two SpaMoss and two
dispensers as well as an "earth-friendly" Spa System Flush, a StartNaturally
filter, and user instructions.
SpaNaturally has a primary product called SpaMoss. SpaMoss is dried,
compressed, and sterilized species of sphagnum moss that are presently being
harvested in New Zealand. Furthermore, to ensure that CWS products are
renewable and continually available for future generations to enjoy, SpaMoss is
carefully harvested by hand in a manner that preserves the ecosystem.
The SpaMoss is then shipped to the United States for processing into a five gram
insert. This insert is then enclosed in a porous plastic net bag and
sealed in a clear plastic covering to protect the moss from exposure before it
is introduced to the spa water.
The flush cleans the inside of the plumbing system (the pipes and hoses) that
are the heart of the spa itself, as well as the interior surfaces of the spa.
It removes unseen deposits of oily grime, microorganisms ,films, and other foreign
matter. Over time, these deposits can accumulate even in a wall maintained
spa. These deposits can lead to reduced water circulation and jet
action, and provide a breeding-ground for bacteria, viruses, mold, and
parasites.
The StartNaturally filter
removes unwanted chemicals and particulates from the consumer's tap water which in
turn reduces the need for additional chemicals to "fix" any problems that are
introduced while filling the spa. It has the recommended capacity of
processing 750 gallons of water which is around three fills for the average spa.
A standard dispenser has been specially modified to allow for an increased
amount of water flow over the SpaMoss, which enhances the interaction
with the spa water.
HOW TO USE THE PRODUCT:
It is extremely important that the spa be cleaned before introducing the SpaMoss
even if the spa is new because of the possibility of pre-existing
contamination. A new or empty spa should be filled with water and have the
flush added. A spa with water in it may have the flush added to the current
water after removing the filter. The filter is then replaced or at
least thoroughly cleaned with an agent designed especially for cleaning filters.
Once the flush has been added, it should be cycled for at least twenty-four
hours. The spa is then emptied and the surfaces scrubbed with a spa
cleaner and rinsed thoroughly. The rinse water is emptied, the jets are
vacuumed out, and the filter is reinstalled. A StartNaturally filter is
then attached to the hose for the final fill of water. The StartNaturally filter
is also used when adding water in-between fills. The preferred sanitizer
is now introduced and the pH balance is established.
The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has established guidelines for
the concentration of bromine (2.0 to 10.0 ppm) or chlorine (2.0 to 10.0 ppm
of free chlorine) in the spa water. Most spa manufactures use testing methods
that measure bromine concentrations of 4.0 to 6.0 ppm and chlorine
concentrations of 3.0 to 5.0 ppm
SpaNaturally suggest that the concentrations of bromine or chlorine be kept at
the recommended minimum of 2.0 ppm. These concentrations when combined
with SpaMoss reduce the costs and unpleasant side effects while
delivering exceptional water quality.
In the final step, the SpaMoss is removed from the clear plastic covering and
inserted into a fully extended dispenser which is allowed to float in the
spa when not in use. The dried and compressed SpaMoss expands to fill the
dispenser when contacting the water. The SpaMoss should be changed once
per month. The water quality continues to improve with every change of
the SpaMoss.
